I work at an interactive ad agency—probably the LEAST family-oriented office I’ve ever worked. Most of my peeps are single women working until 7- 9pm. My boss often works until 11!

It’s definitely hard to hear comments directed at ‘those people who leave at 5 pm’ and sometimes things get back to me. But hey, this is my life- I have a kid to pick up by 6pm and I won’t apologize for that. (I write this with a lot of bravado, sure, but why do I feel so friggin GUILTY?) I know that I’m doing a good job and meeting deadlines.

I think the healthiest and happiest of workerbees have a personal life and a family. So, I try really hard to be positive. My skin is thicker as well. I’m much more choosy about what I let get to me because if I bring it home, it affects my family.
